Overview
The TRB246 connects field devices to the mobile network: it has RS232 and RS485 on one industrial terminal block, together with three configurable digital inputs/outputs and an analog input (0–30 V). One Ethernet port connects a local device such as a controller.
It is built for collecting data. It speaks Modbus TCP and RTU, DNP3 and BACnet, can act as a Modbus–MQTT gateway and sends values from several sources to a server ("Data to Server"). GNSS (GPS, Galileo and others) adds the location.
The mobile connection is 4G LTE Cat 4 with two SIM cards in a stacked tray and automatic switching. In an aluminium housing of 83 × 25 × 74.2 mm, it takes 9–30 V DC, draws under 3.5 W and works from −40 °C to 75 °C. A kit mounts it on a DIN rail.
Typical uses
- Reading meters, sensors and controllers over RS485 or RS232
- Sending Modbus data to a cloud platform through MQTT
